The Vendôme was one of Cartier's first quartz watch launched in the 70s and quickly became a commercial success for the maison. It was launched in two versions: the must de Cartier in gold plating "vermeil" and the version Louis Cartier in 18k gold.
Later, the Trinity model was released featuring a stepped case in rose, white and yellow gold and a 25mm case housing a quartz movement with distinct horizontal lugs. It is said that Louis Cartier, in 1934, patented this new "attache" design drawing inspiration from the shape of the only two streets, Rue de la Paix and Rue de Castiglione, which lead to Place Vendôme from above below the square.
